Pepi Granat Cuadrado M.D.

Class of '54 · Medicine/Sciences

Portrait of Pepi Granat Cuadrado M.D.

Dr. Pepi Granat, MD is a Family Medicine Specialist in Miami, FL and has over 61 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from University of Miami / School of Medicine in 1962. She is affiliated with medical facilities Baptist Hospital of Miami and South Miami Hospital.

Pepi Granat began a journey to aid her fellow humans at a time when women were not encouraged to pursue professional careers of their own. Neither this nor anything else—including raising three children—could keep Dr. Granat from realizing her goal: to bring healing and comfort to those who need it. “Why do you want to be around sickness and death?” her grandmother once asked. “Do something where you can laugh and be happy.” “But sickness and death will still be there, even if I can’t see them,” she replied. “Knowing they’re there and not doing anything about it, I can’t laugh or be happy, either.”

Not only does Dr. Pepi Granat, MD practice Family Medicine, but she also currently is part of four separate community choirs, writes songs and poetry, plays the flute and piccolo, edited a medical journal issue on Music and Medicine, is an active patron of the South Florida arts scene and SO much more.

She recently contributed to a Miami Beach Film series about her experience as a child on Miami Beach during World War Two and has written a book, The Real Drama, about her lifelong journey in "incredible medicine."
